Holiday Lights Make for a Magical Night

http://www.visitdecorah.comThe holiday season comes alive at the annual Holiday Lights display in Decorah, Iowa. Drive through the lighted display at Pulpit Rock Campground, 505 Pulpit Rock, Decorah, Iowa, and relive your childhood memories while enjoying over 100 lighted displays sponsored by area businesses and nonprofit organizations. My favorite display is the hot-air balloon.

Helping Services for Youth & Families

Holidays Lights, a fundraiser for Helping Services for Youth & Families, “has been providing children, teens, and adults with the skills and knowledge to bring about positive change in their own lives and in their communities” in Northeast Iowa.

Save the date! The popular walk-through is scheduled for Wednesday, November 26, 2024. It is the only day that visitors can enjoy the light display on foot. Over 3,000 visitors enjoy the walk-through every year. Traditionally, the sky is clear, and the temperature pleasant, and in some years, there has been snow on the ground making it the perfect event for kicking off the holiday season. The Holiday Lights walk-through is enjoyed by family and friends of all ages.

Visitors will enjoy a variety of soups prepared and donated by area restaurants. There is even ice cream from the local ice cream shoppe, Sugar Bowl, to enjoy. There is also steaming hot chocolate and apple cider to keep attendees warm.

Can’t make it for the walk-through on Thursday evening? The drive-through starts the day after Thanksgiving and continues until Christmas Eve. Santa is available during the walk-through and on weekends to share your wish list and for photographs.

Extend your visit with dinner at Twin Springs Supper Club and stay the night at Hotel Winneshiek.

Dinner at Twin Springs Supper Club

Twin Springs Supper Club

Your next stop is Decorah’s Twin Springs Supper Club. It is a light display all of its own, with a menu fit for royalty and a world-class wine list.

The food is as delicious as it looks. With a selection of food that satisfies your palate, you will not be disappointed. The location, service, and food will exceed your expectations. Reservations are recommended especially on weekends.

The selection of wine at Twin Springs Supper Club is exceptional. There are wines on the list that are not found on other wine lists in Decorah. Why? The owner, Roumel Reynon, is an accomplished Sommelier. This wine connoisseur recommends a bottle of Gruet sparkling wine.

They also offer a wide selection of specialty drinks.

A Night at Hotel Winneshiek

End the evening at Hotel Winn Bar, located in historic Hotel Winneshiek in downtown Decorah. Hotel Winn features Iowa craft beers, including Decorah’s Toppling Goliath and Pulpit Rock. The appetizers are delicious.

Hotel Winneshiek feels like you have walked into a Hallmark Christmas story. The hospitality is five-star, and you will not be disappointed. The hotel is decked out in its finest Christmas attire during the holiday season. A brightly lit Christmas tree takes center stage in the lobby, with garland and Christmas decorations adding to the festive atmosphere.

The holidays have always been special in Decorah.
